Frome Half Marathon, 10K, 5K & Family Fun Run

Voted one of the best events in the UK by runners in the independent Racecheck Awards in 2019 - there’s nowhere quite like Frome for an unforgettable run.

 

Join us in 2022 for this special 10th anniversary edition and experience the Frome finish line feeling!

 

Looking for a highlight half marathon? Want to take on the 10K? Or fly around the 5K? Perhaps you fancy a family fun run with the kids before the adult races get underway. It’s all here in Frome’s annual day of running and fundraising.

 

Welcoming first-time runners, experienced athletes, and everyone in between, you'll find people of all paces to keep you feeling strong as you take in the sights of the fabulous routes through rural, residential and town centre streets.

 

All courses are scenic single loops (no laps!) offering a big city race experience in this beautiful town and the surrounding villages. You'll experience the famous local support with hosepipe-wielding, jelly baby-serving residents and storm on feeling like a local warrior as you conquer some challenging climbs that make the run even more rewarding.

 

The final glorious mile sweeps through the town centre heart of Frome with a huge downhill curve that will set your hairs on end, with goosebumps carrying you through to the finish line.

 

A superb souvenir medal awaits you, with replenishing snacks and drinks to kickstart your recovery. Grab a finisher's photo in our hero’s finisher zone before you leave and look out for confirmation of your result as soon as you finish.

 

Event merchandise is available for purchase during registration for delivery in the week leading up to the event.

 

The Family Fun Run will finish prior to the start of the main categories. Children must be aged 5 or over to participate but buggies (or similar) are permitted for children under 5. Children under 11 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

 

The road closure schedule will be posted approximately 6 weeks prior on the event website.

 

Merchandise is available for purchase during registration for delivery in the week leading up to the event.

 

Entry on the day will not be available.

The Race Organiser is thrilled to have Kate Percy’s as Healthy Eating Partner for 2022. An expert in nutrition specifically for runners and with three best-selling cookbooks, Kate has built her brand around education and helping people fuel their training and racing in the best way possible. Kate will be joining The Race Organiser for live cooking demonstrations, free samples, and more at select events in 2022.

 

Event Details

 

Licensing

This event (with the exception of the Family Fun Run) will be licensed with UK Athletics (UKA) and the results published by Run Britain shortly after the event.

 

Bib Numbers

Bib numbers will be mailed to all participants who have registered with a valid UK address by midnight on the Sunday prior to the event. When a bib cannot be mailed due to an incomplete/invalid address - and in cases where it does not arrive - participants can collect a new/replacement bib at the event. Participants need not contact us with respect to non-receipt of their bib but should be prepared to show their booking confirmation on arrival if requested.

 

Results

Results will be uploaded live to our website (internet connection permitting) and communicated to all pre-registered participants within 24 hours of the event.

 

Rewards

All finishers will receive a medal on completing their event and, subject to a competitive field of participants, prizes may be available for the top three places overall - and the top place in each of the veteran categories (V40/V50/V60/V70) - for both females and males at each distance. Winners will be notified via email by the end of the following week where a presentation is not possible on the day, and once results are considered final. No prizes will be offered for the Family Fun Run.

 

Pacers

Subject to availability, pacers will be offered in the Half Marathon with target times between 1h30 and 3h00.

 

Facilities

 

Medical Cover

Suitable medical cover is provided at our events in case of a medical emergency. 

 

Bag Drop

Whilst we recommend bringing as little as possible, participants can leave essential belongings with us using the tear-off baggage strip on their bib.

 

Photography

Event images will be available, usually within 24 hours of the event.

 

Water Stations

Water will be available on the Half Marathon (6), 10K (3) and 5K (1) routes.

 

Toilets

Toilets will be available in the event village for use throughout the event. Toilets will only be available on the Half Marathon route at approximately 13.3K.

 

Changing Rooms/Showers 

There are no dedicated changing rooms/showers.

 

Other Information

 

Wheelchairs

This event is not suited to wheelchair users due to the potential difficulty of the course but participants wishing to compete with specialised equipment are asked to contact us before entering to ensure we can accommodate any additional requirements.

 

BuggiesPushchairs and Strollers

As a UK Athletics licensed event, the pushing of persons in any device is prohibited under the UKA Rules of Competition - including, but not limited to - buggies, pushchairs, strollers (or similar) and wheelchairs. Such devices are permitted in the Family Fun Run only.

 

Spectators

Spectators are permitted at this event.

 

Earphones/Headphones 

Noise-cancelling earphones/headphones are prohibited and, whilst we discourage the use of other earphones/headphones in running events, participants choosing to use them should ensure they are set to a low enough volume that instructions from event officials can be clearly understood. 

 

Dogs

Participants must not be accompanied by a personally owned or controlled dog during an event. Entries may be accepted from participants with medical assistance dogs, subject to them being correctly registered and identifiable as such, and subject to prior approval by the Event Director.
