Reading O2O

This flat 10km race route embraces Reading's waterways for much of the distance, offering a wonderful, multi-surfaced course that takes in rural, modern and historical areas of the town and surrounding countryside. Friendly atmosphere for beginners, yet a fast course for those who want to try for a 10km PB!

Superb spectator-friendly start and finish by the river, with refreshments available. As well as the 10km main race, there will be 1km & 3km fun runs covering all age groups, so bring the family! Plenty of free car parking

  • 7:45 am Registration opens for you to pick up your race pack 
  • 7:45am Late Entries being taken 
  • 8:30am Baggage Vans open 
  • 9:00am 10k starts 
  • 9:05am (approx) fun runs start 
  • 9:35am (approx) 10k winner finishes

Getting There

Start/Finish:

On the meadow in front of the Oracle HQ - look for the Purple Patch gantry! If you are arriving on foot/bike, the address is: Thames Valley Park, Reading, RG6 1RA 

Car parking:

The race car park is at RG6 1RA. Please note we will be parking in the Oracle 550 office car park. Please do not park anywhere else. Once you have parked, you will be directed to the start, which is a five minute walk away 

Race Information 

Race Packs: 

Race packs should be picked up on the day between 07:30-8:45 from Race HQ. Desks close promptly at 08:45 Late Entries: We will be taking entries on race day between 07:30-08:45. Please go to the “Late Entries” desk in the Race Village in plenty of time to register and pick up a number & chip. Late entries have a surcharge of £3. Desks close promptly at 08:45 

Race Number: 

Secure your race number securely to the FRONT of your running top using four pins. If you have a medical condition that will need consideration, please mark the front of your number with a cross and write details on the back. Race numbers must not be passed on to another runner 

Chip: 

Your chip will be on the back of your race number – be sure not to tamper with it in any way or your time may not be recorded. Do not worry if your chip number does not match your race number! 

Baggage - Sponsored by Handy Moves: 

The baggage drop will be at the Start/Finish area from 08:00. You will be given a baggage tag when you pick up your race pack, which should be attached to your bag before taking it to the drop.

The 10k route:

The race takes you from the water meadow, around the nature reserve before heading in to Reading and back along the banks of the Thames and Kennet & Avon canal. Please be considerate to other users. Please take care when running on the towpath. 

The 3k & 1k Fun Runs: 

The fun-runs will use part of the 10k route and are all on grass & trails Marshals: Marshals will be stationed along the route at strategic points – please comply with instructions given by the marshals Kilometres: The route will be marked with kilometre markers 

Toilets: 

There are toilets at the start/finish area and also inside and outside the Wokingham Waterside Centre, adjacent to the start area 

Water: 

There will be a water station at halfway, at the 5k point. There will also be water at the finish. If you require water prior to the race, please bring a bottle with you 

Prizes & Presentation 

Prize Presentations: 

The presentation will take place at approx 10.15am. 

  • 10k: Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd Male & Female (regardless of age). 1st Male & Female also receive a £50 voucher from NewRunninggear.com. 
  • 1st Male & Female in the following categories: 
    • V40, V50, V60, V70+ also receive a prize. 
  • 3k: Prizes to 1st Adult Male & Female (15yrs+). Then 1st Girl & Boy 9-10yrs; 11-12 yrs; 13-14yrs 
  • 1k: Prizes to 1st Girl & Boy Under-7yrs & 7-8yrs


Finishers Medals:

Each finisher (in 10k/3k/1k) will receive a medal commemorating the event

We are raising money for the Princes Trust and would be grateful to anyone raising money for this worthwhile cause

Refreshments:

Tea/coffee and snacks will be available at the start/finish area Changing: There are no changing facilities, so please come ready dressed for the race

Spectators:

There are numerous places along the route where you can watch the runners go by. There is also plenty of safe, traffic-free space alongside the river Thames for children to run around at the start/finish.
