This year's Chigwell Group Havering Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 4th October 2020 following the success of last year's event, the first to have taken place in Havering in nearly 25 years!
Organised by local mental health charity Havering Mind, money raised through entry will contribute to their efforts to support local people in the community who may be experiencing difficulty with their mental wellbeing.

Where: Abbs Cross Sports Centre, Abbs Cross Lane, Hornchurch. RM12 4YB.

Entry on the Day: Entry on the day will not be available at this race.
Age Requirements: Participants must be aged 17 or over on the day of the race.
Registration: From 08:00 to 09:15.
Race Numbers: For collection at registration on the day only, numbers will not be posted. To be fastened to the front of your top using safety pins provided at registration, your number should be visible at all times. Your timing chip is attached to the back of your number and should not be removed.
Route: The route exits onto Abbs Cross Lane where it continues into Hornchurch Country Park. Exiting the park into Berwick Pond Road, the route follows through the Upminster Lanes, taking in Parklands open space and the Ingrebourne Valley before returning to finish at Abbs Cross Sports Centre.
Licensing: This race will be licensed with UK Athletics and the results submitted to Run Britain within a week of the race.
Pacers: Subject to availability we expect to offer pacers at this event with target half marathon times of 1h30, 1h45, 2h00, 2h15, 2h30, 2h45 and 3h00.
Bag Drop: Whilst we recommend bringing as little as possible, you can leave your belongings with us at the Event village while you race using the tear-off baggage strip on your race number, collecting after you finish by presenting your race number. The bag drop will be attended at all times by our volunteers. Items are left at your own risk.
Toilets: Toilets will be available in the event village in addition to portable toilets along the route at roughly mile 7 in parklands open space.
Race Marshals: Marshals will be present on the course throughout the race.
Distance Markers: The route will be clearly indicated with arrows, tape and distance markers where necessary.
Water Stations: Water stations are provided at regular intervals across the route and will be manned by volunteers.
Sports Therapy: SV Sports Therapy will be offering sports therapy, massage and a sports taping service in the hall. Their team will be available pre/post-event to assist you in exchange for a minimum (cash only) £5 donation, 100% of which will go to Havering Mind. Results: Results will be uploaded live to our website (internet connection permitting) and communicated to all pre-registered participants within 24 hours of the event.
Medals: All finishers will receive a medal on completing the race.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners overall and the top runner in each of the veteran categories (V40/V50/V60/V70) for both males and females. Where possible, we will endeavour to present individual race prizes as soon as validated on the day.
T-shirts are available for purchase during the order process and, subject to availability, at the race for £10 (cash only). Please note that pre-purchased T-shirts must be collected at this race and will not be available for collection at any other events.
Directions: Further information on getting to the race will be communicated to participants closer to the event.
Parking: Plenty of free parking will be available at Harrow Lodge Park (RM12 4QZ), Hornchurch Sports Centre (RM11 1JU) and the surrounding streets, all of which should be no longer than a 10-minute walk to/from the event village.
There is a limited number of car parking spaces available in the Abbs Cross Sports Centre Carpark (RM12 4YB) which can be pre-purchased for use on race day. The money raised from parking will be donated to the Abbs Cross secondary school, located on the same site.
Buggies/Pushchairs: This race is not suitable for runners with buggies/pushchairs.
Wheelchair Users: This race is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Earphones/Headphones: Noise-cancelling earphones/headphones are prohibited and we discourage the use of other earphones/headphones at this event. We reserve the right to disqualify participants who cannot hear instructions from marshals or other race officials as a result of their use.
