The Chigwell Group Havering Half marathon will take place on Sunday 6th October 2019, the first Half marathon to take place in Havering in nearly 25 years!
Organised by local mental health charity Havering Mind, all money raised through entry will contribute to their efforts to support local people in the community who may be experiencing difficulty with their mental wellbeing.
When: Sunday 6th October 2019 at 09:30.
Where: Abbs Cross Sports Centre, Abbs Cross Lane, Hornchurch. RM12 4YB.
Pricing: £30 Unaffiliated, £28 Affiliated.
Entry on the Day: Entry on the day will not be available at this race.
Age Requirements: Participants must be aged 17 or over on the day of the race.
Registration: From 08:00 to 09:15.
Race Numbers: For collection at registration on the day only, numbers will not be posted. To be fastened to the front of your top using safety pins provided at registration, your number should be visible at all times. Your timing chip is attached to the back of your number and should not be removed.
Route: The route exits onto Abbs Cross Lane where it continues into Hornchurch Country Park. Exiting the park into Berwick Pond Road, the route continues through the Upminster Lanes, taking in Parklands open space and the Ingrebourne Valley before returning to finish at Abbs Cross Sports Centre.
Licensing: This race is licensed with UK Athletics.
The results will be submitted to Run Britain within a week of the race.
Pacers: There will be pacers at the event at the following times: - 1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45 and 3:00 hours.
Bag Drop: Whilst we recommend bringing as little as possible, you can leave your belongings with us at the Event village while you race using the tear-off baggage strip on your race number, collecting after you finish by presenting your race number. The bag drop will be attended at all times by our volunteers. Items are left at your own risk.
Toilets: Toilets will be available in the event village in addition to portable toilets along the route at roughly mile 7 in parklands open space.
Race Marshals: Marshals will be present on the course throughout the race.
Distance Markers: The route will be clearly indicated with arrows, tape and Mile markers where necessary.
Water Stations: Water stations are provided at regular intervals across the route and will be manned by volunteers.
Sports therapy: SV Sports Therapy will be offering a sports therapy, sports massage and sports taping service in the hall.The team will be on hand pre and post event helping you in exchange for a minimum £5 donation, where 100% goes to Havering Mind. Results: Results will be uploaded live to our website (internet connection permitting) and communicated to all pre-registered participants within 24 hours of the event.
Medals: All finishers will receive a medal on completing the race.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners overall for both males and females. Where possible, we will endeavor to present individual race prizes as soon as validated on the day.
T-shirts are available for purchase during the order process and, subject to availability, at the race for £10 (cash only). Please note that pre-purchased T-shirts must be collected at this race and will not be available for collection at any other events.
Directions: Further information on getting to the race will be communicated to participants closer to the event.
Parking: There will be free car parking in Harrow Lodge Park (RM12 4QZ) or Hornchurch Sports Centre (RM11 1JU) and the surrounding streets. This will be a maximum of 10 minutes walk from the event village.
However, there are an extremely limited number of car parking spaces available on the same site of the event village at the Abbs Cross Sports Centre (RM12 4YB). Due to the limited numbers, these must be pre-purchased at £10 a car.
The money raised from the car parking will be donated to the Abbs Cross secondary school; who share the site; who will use it to purchase sports equipment for their pupils.

Buggies/Pushchairs: This race is not suitable for runners with buggies/pushchairs.
Wheelchair Users: This race is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Earphones/Headphones: Earphones/headphones are discouraged at this event. We reserve the right to disqualify participants who cannot hear instructions as a result of their use.
