This is race 3 of 5 in the Essex Cross Country 10K Series 2020, taking place on the second Saturday of each month from May 2020 to September 2020. Whilst we welcome runners who only wish to participate in a single race, please note that discounted series entry is available here (prior to the first race in the series only).
When: Saturday 11 July 2020 at 09:45.
Where: Thorndon Park (South), Arterial Road, Brentwood, Essex. CM13 3LW.
Pricing: £16 Unaffiliated, £14 Affiliated, £0 Gold Members.
Entry on the Day: Subject to a £2 surcharge (cash only, subject to availability).
Series Pricing (for all 5 races, includes a technical t-shirt): £72 Unaffiliated, £63 Affiliated, £0 Gold Members.
Age Requirements: Participants must be aged 15 or over on the day of the race.
Registration: From 08:30 to 09:30.
Race Numbers: For collection at registration on the day only, numbers will not be posted. To be fastened to the front of your top using safety pins provided at registration, your number should be visible at all times. Your timing chip is attached to the back of your number and should not be removed.
Timing: Chip-timed, with a new race number/chip for each race in the series.
Route: The course consists of 2 laps with a short out and back towards the north park on a mixture of gravel pathway, forest ground and grass fields with sections of exposed tree roots and low hanging branches, and is suitable for runners of all abilities. Please always be vigilant of other runners, spectators, dogs, cyclists and other users of public footpaths and rights of way.
Spectators: Spectators can watch from the course loop to see runners pass twice wherever they are situated or remain at the start/finish area.
Licensing: This race will not be licensed with UK Athletics.
Pacers: Pacers will not be offered at this race.
Bag Drop: Whilst we recommend bringing as little as possible, you can leave your belongings with us while you race using the tear-off baggage strip on your race number, collecting after you finish by presenting your race number.
Toilets: There are free toilets in the Pavilion Café block very close to the Start/Finish area for use throughout the event.
Race Marshals: Marshals will be present on the course throughout the race.
Distance Markers: The route will be clearly indicated with arrows, tape and distance markers where necessary.
Water Stations: There will be a water station at the finish and on the loop, passed twice, at which water will be provided in recyclable plastic cups.
Goody Bag: All runners will receive food and refreshments on finishing the race.
Refreshments: Refreshments will not be available at this event.
Changing/Showers: There are no changing rooms or showers at this event.
Lost Property: Lost property from an event will be kept for one month. If unclaimed, or ownership cannot be determined, lost property items will be donated to charity.
Results: Results will be uploaded live to our website (internet connection permitting) and, where possible/practical, timing print-outs will be available at the race. In all cases, results will be communicated to all pre-registered participants within 24 hours of the event.
Medals: All finishers will receive a medal on completing the race.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners overall and the top runner in each of the veteran categories (V40/V50/V60/V70) for both males and females. Where possible, we will endeavour to present individual race prizes as soon as validated on the day.
Eligibility: Runners must finish at least 4 of the 5 available series races, all of which will be used to calculate final positions.
Scoring: 1st = 50pts, 2nd = 49pts, …, 49th = 2pts, 50th+ = 1pt. Positions will be determined on the basis of the highest cumulative score.
Accuracy: Cumulative scores will be calculated by automatically matching Name, Gender and Date of Birth with some additional manual validation. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure the details they provide are consistent across races.
Categories: Categories will be determined using a participant's age on the 31st December of the calendar year in which the first race of the series takes place.
Grand Prix: Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners overall and the top runner in each category (V40/V50/V60/V70) for both males and females. In the event of a tie, the higher position will be awarded to the competitor that has attended more races. Where possible, we will endeavour to present series prizes at the last race of the series as soon as validated on the day.
T-shirts are available for purchase during the order process and, subject to availability, at the race for £8 (cash only). Please note that pre-purchased T-shirts must be collected at one of the races listed in the product description and will not be available for collection at any other events.

Buggies/Pushchairs: This race is not suitable for runners with buggies/pushchairs.
Wheelchair Users: This race is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Earphones/Headphones: Noise-cancelling earphones/headphones are prohibited and whilst we discourage the use of other earphones/headphones at this event, participants choosing to use them should ensure they are set to a minimum volume such that instructions from marshals or other race officials can be clearly understood. We reserve the right to disqualify participants who cannot hear instructions as a result of their use.
Event Time-Limit: Whilst there is no strict time-limit for this race, in order that we adhere to the restrictions imposed by the venue hire agreement, it may be necessary for us to begin deconstruction of the registration/finish area(s) after approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to facilitate the removal of all equipment from the premises by the agreed time.
