YOGA IN THE SKY

HOLD A HALF MOON POSE AT 80 METRES!

From 3 February, the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the UK’s tallest sculpture, will be transformed into one of the country’s most inspiring yoga studios. On selected Saturday mornings yoga participants will be able to enjoy epic morning views of the iconic venues of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and across 20 miles of London as they practice Hatha Yoga at heights of 80m.

There will be one class led by instructor, Rebecca Spooner who specialises in Hatha Yoga – a mixed ability session will run from 8.30am – 9.15am. Individual classes are £20

The ArcelorMittal Orbit’s highest viewing platform is the perfect setting for Hatha Yoga which focuses on balancing the body’s opposing energies - the positive and the negative, the sun and the moon – through physical postures, breathing, mindfulness and relaxation techniques. At 80m high, the inspiring views from the yoga studio will take in iconic buildings such as the former Olympic Stadium, The Gherkin, The Shard, St Paul’s, Canary Wharf and Wembley Stadium. Students can take time out from the world below and focus on balance, strength and peace of mind - an energising and invigorating way to start the weekend.

The class is for those who would like to practice their yoga in a new and unique environment - positions will include the crow, the splits, headstand, the wheel and half-moon. For newcomers to yoga or do not practice regularly - positions will include downward-facing dog, child’s pose, tree, triangle and warrior I. Classes will finish with a meditation session.
