Organised by local mental health charity Havering Mind, money raised through entries will contribute to their efforts to support local people in the community who may be experiencing difficulty with their mental wellbeing.
Whilst we might not able to offer the ideal event experience this year, the mental health benefits of running are more important than ever. We've worked up the next best thing and are excited to offer the Virtual Havering Mind Half Marathon Month!
From Thursday 1 - Saturday 31 October inclusive, we're encouraging you to complete a half marathon in aid of Havering Mind and to celebrate better mental health in every runner. We've created a special Havering Half Course around Hornchurch Country Park for you to take on any time, with your running mates or on your own. You can also run the distance anywhere else you prefer.
Getting involved in the virtual half marathon will help us to continue providing vital services for the community in Havering, at a time when things are tougher for everyone.
You'll be able to complete the distance as many times as you like throughout October and your best result will be the one that stays on the official leaderboard. After Saturday 31 October, we'll finalise the results and get your souvenir medal out to you in the post.
We'll be sharing your inspirational stories and social media posts of your runs to keep us connected as a community. Make sure you're following our accounts, and get in touch to share your stories.

The Virtual Havering Mind Half Marathon Month13.1 Miles £28.00 - £30.00
When should I complete my half marathon?
The virtual half marathon month runs from Thursday 1 to Saturday 31 October inclusive, so you can complete the distance at any time during the month.
You'll be able to complete the course as many times as you like in the month and your best result will be the one that stays on the official leaderboard.
After Saturday 31 October, we'll finalise the results and get this year's special souvenir medal out to you in the post.
Where shall I do my run?
We've created a special Havering Half Course around Hornchurch Country Park for you to take on any time, with your running mates or on your own. It'll be two laps of approximately 10.55km on gravel paths and grassy tracks.
It's also fine to run the distance anywhere else if you prefer.
If necessary, plan your journey to and from your route in advance, either as part of your run, by bike or by car. Please don't use public transport if possible, and if you must, ensure you have a suitable face covering with you.
How will I find my way?
Think about how you'll navigate; remember that the special Hornchurch Country Park route will not be marked or marshalled. A map is provided using Google Maps, so download the app from the Android or Apple stores now if you don't already have it.
If you'll be navigating with your watch or something else, upload the GPX file provided in your confirmation email and check it's loaded correctly before you start.
What about recording your run?
Will you time you run with a GPS tracking watch or mobile app? Either is fine, just remember to make sure it's charged and any software updates are complete.
Be ready to run
Just as you would for any independent running, use the loo before you head out - there may not be any public toilets open on your route.
Make sure you're adequately hydrated and fuelled and carry some identification in case of an emergency.
After your run
We're excited to see your social media posts whilst you're out there getting it done, make sure you share them with us! Use the tag @HaveringMind and #virtualhaveringhalf
Make sure you submit your final result by midnight on the 31 October!
Your medal, a brilliant souvenir of The Virtual Havering Mind Half Marathon Month, will be sent out in the post (to the address you provide during registration) once the results are finalised on the 1 November.
Remember, if you'd prefer to run a 10K (one lap of the Hornchurch Country Park route) you will still receive a medal!
You can purchase a Virtual Havering Mind Half Marathon Month T-shirt as a further memento of your October achievement! T-shirts will be dispatched at the beginning of November.
